A portrait painting is almost never about who the person actually is. The reason I paint peoples portraits are the feelings, sensations, and emotions I sense from their body language, their facial expressions, what emotion is locked into their skin all the way down to the cellular level. I keep staring at this painting as if this fella is desperately trying to relate something to me. Almost like I’m waiting for the painting to speak to me even though it already telepathically communicates. Don’t ask me who it’s a portrait of, it really doesn’t matter.
